HARARE – Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) says the recently held Redefined Concert, featuring Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi and Master H, generated US$280 000 in one night.

The successful concert organised by RTG’s entertainment arm, Gateway Stream Media, was held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on Saturday, June 15.

General admission tickets were priced at US$20, while VIP access was going for US$50.

“They put on an amazing show. To the extent that we generated about US$280 000 that night,” RTG’s group chief executive officer, Tendai Madziwanyika, told shareholders at the annual general meeting.

He said the Gateway Stream brand is growing.

“We are going to have a couple more shows this year and going into 2025, we are going to be taking it beyond the borders.

“So you can imagine doing something like that, maybe in Johannesburg, with some of the big boys in South Africa. It’s going to be quite exciting,” Madziwanyika said.

Madziwanyika highlighted that the entertainment arm will help to generate new revenue and cash flow streams.

“I would like shareholders to understand that it is not that RTG is now wanting to go into shows and entertainment and get confused with whether we are a hospitality provider or not. It is actually what we call a hook. Because when people have a feel-good factor, what happens is that they then consume more of your product,” he said.

“I can tell you that the Facebook views were almost 200 000 that were generated from this function. So what tends to happen then is that you have your customers feeling good about your offer.”

Last year’s edition featured Winky D, Jah Prayzah and Nutty O.
