HARARE – ZIMBABWE is on the frontline of a global workforce transformation, with nearly 50% of job-related skills expected to change by 2030—significantly above the global average of 39%, according to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025.
In response, 90% of Zimbabwean employers say they are prioritizing upskilling initiatives to equip employees for the evolving demands of the job market.

“Skills like systems thinking, marketing and media, customer service, dependability and attention to detail, quality control, and global citizenship are increasing in demand more rapidly than global averages,” the report notes, highlighting Zimbabwe’s urgent need for targeted training and education reforms.
The report also emphasizes the importance of policy support, with 70% of Zimbabwean respondents identifying public-policy interventions in education as critical to preparing the workforce for the future—well above the global average of 47%.
This reflects a growing consensus among business leaders that national education systems must evolve in tandem with workplace needs. As technological change accelerates and global dynamics shift, Zimbabwe’s ability to align its workforce strategy with emerging trends will determine its competitiveness in the future job market.
