Gold deliveries hit 37 tonnes in first 10 months

By ETimes

HARARE – ZIMBABWE’S gold deliveries to Fidelity Printers and Refiners (FPR) reached 37 067 kilograms in the first ten months of 2025, driven largely by small-scale miners who continued to outpace large-scale producers, official figures show.

According to the FPR data, small-scale producers accounted for 27 759 kgs, representing about 75 percent of total deliveries, while primary producers supplied 9 308 kgs between January and October.

The figures highlight the growing importance of artisanal and small-scale mining in sustaining Zimbabwe’s gold output amid operational challenges faced by larger mining houses.

Total gold deliveries fell from 4 483 kgs in September to 4 085 kgs in October, representing a drop of 8,8 percent month-on-month.

The decline was largely driven by weaker output from primary producers, whose deliveries slid from 965,98 kgs in September to 855,90 kgs in October, a decline of around 11 percent.

This fall may indicate operational disruptions, such as power supply challenges or maintenance shutdowns at some large-scale mines.

While small-scale producers continued to dominate overall output, their deliveries also declined slightly, from 3 517 kgs in September to 3 230 kgs in October, marking an eight percent reduction.

The mining sector, a key driver of the economy, is projected to grow by 7,3 percent in 2025 and 6,2 percent in 2026.

Its contribution to the country’s GDP has also risen, climbing from 11,1 percent in 2018 to 14,5 percent currently.

The country’s gold output target for this year is 45 000 kgs.
