ZSE closes on positive note, up by 1.03%

The local bourse closed the week on the upside amid gains emanating mainly from financial services stocks. This resulted in the ZSE All Share Index gaining 1.03% to close the session at 112,615.44. The Top 10 index also added 2.56% to close at 60,080.53. The total value traded for the session came to $6,682,221,203.00.

This comes after the week was awashed by fiscal and monetary measures announced trying to stabilize the economy battling with its own currency losing its value dramatically. The interbank exchange rate closed the week at 2,577 whilst the alternative market is now upwards of 3500.

Featuring in the Top 5 gainers’ set were financial services stocks, CBZ Holdings and ZB Holdings, which rose by 15% and 14.99% to close at $1,063.90 and $367.00 respectively.

CFI added 15% to close the week ending session at $1234.55. Agric seed manufacturer, Seedco Ltd went up by 14.96% to close at $1282.28. Hospitality stock, Meikles sealed the top 5 gainers’ set after it rose by 14.91% to close at $1143.16.

Topping the downside was telecom giant Econet, which plummeted by 14.89% to close at $763.93.  Econet recorded a negative net position for the financial year ending February 2023. 

Zimplow went down by 9.88% to close the session at $75.01. Agric concern, Ariston went down by 9.17% to close the session at $16.08. Depositing MFI, Getbucks lost 0.69% to close the session at $100. Mining stock Riozim declined by 0.57% to close at $280.00 – Harare
