HARARE – ZIMBABWE’S financial powerhouse CABS celebrated its 75th anniversary tonight, showcasing seven decades of transformative impact through housing development, agricultural financing, and economic empowerment.

The building society, which has become a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s financial sector, commemorated the occasion by highlighting its nationwide development projects and US$1.3 billion lending portfolio.

Managing director Mehluli Mpofu revealed CABS’ tangible contributions to national infrastructure which includes 2 700 houses developed in Harare’s Budiriro suburb, 1 030 serviced stands created in Bulawayo and 18 active credit lines with major international financiers including Afreximbank and the African Development Bank

“Today our offering extends to all facets of the economy,” Mpofu told celebrants, underscoring the institution’s evolution from traditional building society to comprehensive financial services provider.

“We have also supported grain production, dairy, mining, retail and distribution.”

“We are ready to redefine the boundaries of what’s possible in financial services… leveraging our greatest talent, our people.”

The anniversary celebration doubled as a tribute to staff resilience, with Mpofu acknowledging: “The 75-year milestone would not have been possible without commitment of staff.”

With major housing projects underway and agricultural financing expanding, CABS positions itself as both a witness to Zimbabwe’s history and an architect of its economic future – ready to help generations “realize your dreams” for decades to come.
