ZSE closes higher as investors gain $184.67bn

Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) closed higher on Friday, with the mainstream All Share Index up 1.45% to 161,050.0604 points.

As a result, the market capitalization increased by $184.67 billion to close at $12.88 trillion.

In 9,916 deals, investors exchanged 2.37 million shares valued at $998.99 million.

The Top 10 Index gained the most, up 1.84% to close at 71,537.0784 points.

The Medium Cap Index added 0.63% to end at 648,559.2325 points, while the Small Cap Index was flat at 5,342,953.9993 points.

In the medium term, observers say overall macro improvements and policy consistency could enhance the fundamental values of equities and potentially support target prices.

Today’s performance comes as the ZSE misses out on ten of the fourteen sub-Saharan Africa’s (excluding South Africa’s) stock markets that have had positive US$ returns year to date.

According to the African Financials report, Malawi US$ returns were up 61.8% year to date in September-HARARE
